Hello, human being.
Did you forget that you’re not a human doing again?
That’s ok, it’s in the air we breathe.
We all forget who we are sometimes.
That’s why I’ve written some reflection questions for you, questions I’ve had to ask myself as I’ve detached from my own internal voice that says, “you’re not doing enough.”
Won’t you take two minutes to breathe slower and ask yourself these questions too?
I hope you will.
Take as much time as you need to work through the answer to each one.
Reflection questions for weary hustlers
How is your energy today? How has it been this week?
Have you felt uplifted and sustained? Or by the end of each day, are you drained?
Have you been kind to yourself lately? How can you be more self-compassionate day to day?
Does your rest, pleasure, and ease need to be pre-planned and executed in a vacuum of vacations and weekends?
How does the feeling of being un-regimented, un-restrained, and uncontrolled affect you? Why do you think that is?
With whom do you experience the most laughter, connection, and rest? Who brings out your best, and what do you do together?
These are your people.
Where is the goodness in your life that’s outside of your control? Where is God blessing you that you’re not forcing the outcome?
This is where the treasure of your life is buried.
Weary hustler, it’s hard to simply be when we are constantly pressured to do more, push harder, and deny our energy and desires.
But that’s not why we’re here.
And there is a deep-seated part of us that knows the truth.
May we identify the toxic beliefs that we’ve received from our capitalistic culture to be good little producers.
May we uncover the lies we’ve been told about our humanity and worth, about our value as human beings not human doings.
And may our days be slower and softer, richer and longer, and may they be filled with connection, healing, and deep peace.
Weary hustler, let it all go now.
There’s nothing left to earn.
